Questions about Athmex

Direct answers about training advice, connected data, privacy, and private testing.

Getting started

Which assistants work?
Claude and ChatGPT both work with Athmex, but not equally. On Claude, every plan including the free one gets full read-and-write access to your Athmex context. On ChatGPT, Developer Mode currently gives Pro accounts read and fetch access only, so you can use your Athmex context in a conversation but can't update it directly from ChatGPT; full read-and-write access on ChatGPT currently needs a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace. Plus is not currently listed. Strava's connector supports Claude only.
Do I need a paid Claude or ChatGPT plan?
Claude works on a free account — custom connectors, including Athmex, are available on every Claude plan there. ChatGPT needs a paid plan: Developer Mode is available on Pro, but Pro's access is read and fetch only, so you can use your Athmex context in a conversation without being able to update it from ChatGPT. Updating your Athmex profile directly from ChatGPT currently needs a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace. There is no separate Athmex charge during the open beta.
Do I need to know how to code to use this?
You never write any code, but the two assistants are not equally quick. Claude takes about two minutes: you paste a link we give you and approve the connection. ChatGPT is more involved, roughly nine steps, including creating a custom app and selecting permission scopes, all of which we spell out one at a time. Allow ten minutes for ChatGPT, and use Claude if you would rather it were simple.
Do I need Athmex to connect my watch to Claude?
They do different jobs. A watch connector shows your AI what you did last week. Athmex tells it who you are with things like current thresholds, target races, injury history, equipment which is the context that makes last week's data mean anything. Use Athmex on its own, or alongside a connector.

Using Athmex

What does Athmex actually store?
Athmex stores the athlete information you choose to add: your thresholds and paces, PBs, goals, races and results, injuries, constraints, equipment and notes. Athmex does not store your activity history — that reaches Claude or ChatGPT separately, through whichever connector, plugin or source you choose to use.
Doesn't ChatGPT or Claude already remember this about me?
ChatGPT and Claude's own memory is useful, and Athmex doesn't replace it. But general chat memory can still miss a correction, carry an old PB or a resolved injury forward, or lose context between conversations. Athmex gives your assistant an explicit athlete record — your thresholds, PBs, goals, races, injuries and other context — that you can review and correct directly.
Does Athmex give training advice?
Athmex stores the context you choose to provide. Claude or ChatGPT uses it to produce the advice. An activity connector is optional if you also want recent sessions in the same conversation.Read the full guide
Can Athmex send workouts to my watch?
Not yet. Right now Athmex holds and serves your training context. Sending structured workouts back to your watch, so you’re not building them by hand in Garmin, is next on the roadmap.

Privacy & your data

Does Athmex see my training data from Garmin, Strava, COROS or Apple?
No. Athmex stores only the context you give it, such as PBs, thresholds, goals, races, injuries and equipment. It does not import activities or sync data from Garmin, Strava, COROS, Apple or another platform. If you connect a supported activity source, that source talks to Claude or ChatGPT separately. Athmex never receives the activity feed.
Is my data private?
Athmex serves your context only through your private connection. Once it reaches Claude or ChatGPT, that provider handles it under its own terms and privacy settings. Athmex does not sell it or use it for advertising.
Does Athmex update my information automatically?
No. Athmex changes when you edit it yourself or explicitly ask Claude or ChatGPT to update it. It does not silently infer, correct or replace your athlete information.

Pricing

What does Athmex cost during open beta?
Athmex is free during the open beta with no payment details required. See the pricing page for what happens when the beta ends. You will get plenty of notice, and nothing is ever charged automatically.
When does the free trial begin?
The 14-day free trial starts when paid membership launches after the beta. Everything is free until then.

Connecting your training data

Which wearables have an official AI connector?
As of 6 August 2026, two. COROS publishes an official MCP server, and Strava offers an official Claude connector through Claude's built-in directory. Garmin, WHOOP, Oura, Polar, Suunto, Wahoo and Apple do not publish official AI connectors. Community-built servers exist for most of them, but they are unaffiliated with the manufacturer and carry no guarantee of maintenance.
Why can't a third-party app give my AI my Strava data?
Strava's API agreement prohibits third parties from serving Strava data to AI and machine-learning systems. That is why aggregator products with twenty or more integrations still cannot offer Strava. Strava's own connector, added from Claude's directory, is a first-party route and is unaffected by that restriction. It is also why Athmex holds no activity data from any platform — a deliberate position, not a missing feature.
Do I need a paid Claude plan to use the Strava connector?
No paid Claude plan is required for web connectors: Anthropic says they are available to all Claude users. You do need an eligible Strava subscription, and normal Claude usage limits still apply.
Does Strava's connector work with ChatGPT?
Strava does not document a ChatGPT setup. Its official help page provides setup for Claude and says support for other assistants may come later. Strava data can still reach ChatGPT if Strava writes it into Apple Health and you connect Apple Health to ChatGPT, but that is OpenAI's Health route rather than a Strava connector. Athmex can give ChatGPT your dated athlete context either way, and it does not import Strava activities.
Can I connect Garmin, Apple Watch or WHOOP to Claude through Strava?
If your device or its companion app sends an activity to Strava, Claude can query the version held by Strava. It does not gain access to the device account itself, so fields that never reached Strava are not added by this connection.
What are the limits of the COROS connector?
Two worth knowing. Retrieval of .fit files is capped at 50 requests per day, so very deep session-by-session analysis can hit that ceiling. And the connector is read-only — writing workouts back to COROS is not yet available, so a plan your AI suggests still has to be entered manually.
Does Garmin have its own connector for Claude or ChatGPT?
Not at present. Garmin does not currently offer an official connector for Claude or ChatGPT, so the working route is Garmin → Strava → Claude. Garmin's own wellness metrics do not travel that path — Body Battery, sleep, HRV status and stress stay in Garmin Connect. Only activities reach Strava.
How do Apple Watch workouts get into Strava?
Three ways. Record with the Strava app on your watch and it uploads directly. Or record in Apple's Workout app and use Strava's Apple Health integration, which can upload automatically once you turn on Automatic Uploads, though only for activities recorded by the native Workout app in the past 30 days. Or use a bridge app such as HealthFit or RunGap to sync Apple Health workouts to Strava.
Does WHOOP have an official connector for Claude or ChatGPT?
No. WHOOP does not publish an official MCP server or connector for Claude or ChatGPT. Several community-built and third-party hosted servers exist, but they are unaffiliated with WHOOP, require you to create developer credentials, and carry no guarantee of maintenance. Treat them as you would any third-party app with access to your health data.
Does my WHOOP recovery, sleep and strain data reach Strava?
Partly. Only logged workouts cross from WHOOP into Strava, and WHOOP attaches activity strain and a recovery score to those. Sleep stages, the daily recovery score and HRV never make the trip, because they are not activities and Strava has nowhere to put them. An assistant reading your Strava data sees the sessions but not the physiology behind them.
