How this works
Set up an Athmex account and we'll walk you through connecting your COROS data to Claude and ChatGPT, as part of the same setup. Athmex also adds your goals, PBs, races and injuries, so your assistant has the full picture, not just your recent workouts.
Where Athmex fits
COROS is great at tracking what you did: your workouts, sleep, heart rate and recovery. It doesn't know what you're training for, what your PB actually is right now, or the injury you're working around.
Athmex fills in that side. COROS keeps sending your training data straight to Claude or ChatGPT; Athmex adds the goals, PBs, races and injuries so your assistant understands both what you did and why it matters.
A useful prompt might be:
Compare my COROS training load and recovery over the last four weeks with my sub-1:30 half-marathon goal on 4 October, my current threshold pace of 4:08/km and the calf issue I logged last week.
COROS supplies the load and recovery data. Athmex supplies the goal, threshold and injury record.
The technical detail, if you want it
You don't need any of this to get started. It's here for anyone who wants to know exactly what's happening under the hood.
COROS runs this connection itself
COROS built and runs this connection itself, for both Claude and ChatGPT. You sign in with your COROS account to turn it on. Athmex has no part in that step.
It only reads your COROS account. It can't change your training plan or send workouts back to COROS.
What COROS can share
It covers more than just your workouts. Your assistant can also see daily numbers like sleep, heart rate and stress, plus fitness stats like recovery, VO2 max, race predictions and your training calendar.
That's a lot of health information in one place, so only turn the connection on in conversations where you actually want your assistant using it.
What the 50-file limit actually affects
That limit only applies to pulling full workout files, not to normal questions. Most questions don't need one.
You'll hit the file limit only if you ask for GPS routes, terrain, or a detailed split-by-split breakdown.
Cycling power isn't included at all, even if you use a power meter. Your assistant can't build a power curve or estimate FTP from this connection.
Already know what you're doing?
COROS is listed in Claude's connector directory and ChatGPT's plugin directory. Installing it from ChatGPT's directory does not require turning on Developer Mode, unlike the manual route below. Either way, an Athmex profile is still worth having alongside it for the context COROS does not hold.
How to connect COROS to Claude manually
This works on every Claude plan, including the free one. On the free plan you can only add one connection like this.
1. Open Claude and go to Customize → Connectors.
Select the option to add a custom connection. On Team or Enterprise, an owner may need to add it for the organisation first.
2. Add the COROS server address.
Paste https://mcp.coros.com/mcp, then continue to the COROS sign-in screen.
3. Authorise your COROS account.
Review the requested permissions, sign in to COROS and save the connection. Enable it in the conversation where you want Claude to use the data.
4. Check it with a narrow question.
Ask Claude to list your most recent COROS activities or show a recent resting-heart-rate trend.
How to connect COROS to ChatGPT manually
This needs a paid ChatGPT plan and a setting called Developer Mode turned on. OpenAI's own help pages say this needs Pro; COROS says Plus also works. Try it on whatever paid plan you already have.
1. Open Settings → Apps → Advanced Settings.
Turn on Developer Mode, then choose the option to create or add an app.
2. Paste the COROS server address.
Use https://mcp.coros.com/mcp, scan the available tools, then continue to COROS authorisation.
3. Sign in and test a factual query.
After authorising COROS, ask ChatGPT for a recent activity or daily-health value.
Common questions
Does COROS work with Claude Free?
Yes. Free users are limited to one custom connection and have lower general usage limits.
Does COROS work with ChatGPT?
Yes, but it needs a paid plan and a ChatGPT setting called Developer Mode turned on. If you install it from ChatGPT's own app directory instead of adding it by hand, you don't need Developer Mode at all.
Can the assistant change my COROS training plan?
No. It can only read your account, not change it.
Does Athmex import COROS activities?
No. Athmex stores only what you enter or confirm yourself. COROS connects to Claude or ChatGPT separately.
