Train for long-distance cycling with ChatGPT or Claude.

A first 100 km, a century or a 300 km audax asks for durability more than speed. Athmex keeps your long-ride history, fuelling notes, FTP, free weekends and constraints ready for ChatGPT or Claude, so the build matches the distance and your life.

Can ChatGPT plan training for a 100-mile or 200 km ride?

Yes. ChatGPT or Claude can plan how to grow your long rides, how to fuel, where to stop and how to pace the whole day. The answer depends on your longest recent ride, how many long weekends you can give it, your FTP or heart-rate zones and what your body tolerates after five or ten hours.

Athmex keeps that context ready in every conversation.

What ChatGPT or Claude should know before planning a long ride

Distance is the headline. Durability, fuelling and time available decide the plan.

Target
Distance, climbing, date, and whether it’s supported, self-supported or an audax.
Longest recent ride
Distance, time and how the last hour felt.
Weekends
How many long rides you can actually fit before the event.
Fuelling
What you eat and drink, and how often, on long rides.
FTP or zones
For pacing a steady, sustainable effort all day.
Constraints
Saddle comfort, hands, neck, back, family time and work.

Same distance. Two very different preparations.

Both riders want to ride 200 km in a day this summer.

Durability is there. The work is steady pacing, efficient stops and some tempo so a faster average feels sustainable.

Both riders are illustrative. Neither plan is a prescription.

Durability matters more than peak power

On a very long ride, the question isn’t how many watts you can make fresh, but how many you can still make in hour six. That comes from time in the saddle, steady riding and well-practised fuelling. An assistant can balance longer rides against recovery during the rest of the week.

Fuelling a day on the bike

Long rides are often decided by food. Carbohydrate intake, drinking and salt all matter, and they need practice. Tell ChatGPT or Claude what you ate and how you felt after each long ride; it can suggest what to change next time.

Pacing and stops

A steady effort, often low in zone 2 or around tempo on climbs, keeps the day sustainable. Stops add up: on an audax, time off the bike can decide whether you make the control. With your FTP and route, the assistant can plan both.

If the route is hilly, the climbing page covers pacing uphill. If it’s an event with a profile, see the sportive page.

Multi-day and ultra-distance

Back-to-back days, overnight rides and bikepacking add sleep, recovery and kit to the problem. Record the format in your Athmex race notes so the assistant plans for all of it, not just the first day.

How recent rides improve a long-distance conversation

Your profile holds the target and constraints. Recent long rides show how the build is going.

Rides from Garmin, Wahoo or Strava, and planned routes from komoot, can reach ChatGPT or Claude through routes some platforms support. Routes differ by platform and by assistant.

Athmex doesn’t import your rides. It keeps the context around them.

Where AI long-distance advice has limits

An assistant can’t judge your fit on the bike or spot the early signs of an overuse injury. Numbness, joint pain or unusual fatigue are worth a professional opinion.

Questions riders ask

Can ChatGPT plan training for a 100-mile ride?

Yes. Give it your longest recent ride, weekly hours and the date. Athmex keeps those ready so the build fits you.

How should I fuel a 200 km ride?

Most riders eat and drink little and often, practised on long training rides. An assistant can help you plan it from what has worked for you.

How long should my longest ride be before an audax?

It depends on the distance and your history. Many riders build to 70 to 80% of the event distance.

Give ChatGPT or Claude the distance and the rider taking it on.
